It helps control sarcoptic mange, and it inhibits the development of fleas at every life stage to guard against re-infestation. It also kills every life stage of ticks. This product is a great way to protect your dog from parasites and the diseases they can spread (such as heartworm and Lyme).
How does Frontline Shield for Dogs work?
FRONTLINE Shield for Dogs protects dogs from parasites using three different ingredients. Fipronil kills fleas by attacking their nervous system. Pyriproxyfen stops the development of fleas at all stages (larvae, eggs, and pupae).Permethrin repels and kills ticks, mites, and insects.

How is Frontline Shield for Dogs sold?
FRONTLINE® Shield is available in a 6-count or 3-count quantity (6 or 3 months' worth of product). Your dog's veterinarian will determine his or her dosage based on their body weight.
What are the side effects of Frontline Shield for Dogs?
Side effects are rare with the use of this product. However, skin irritation has been reported in some cases. Signs of such a reaction can include redness, discomfort, and scratching. If you notice that your dog has these or any other signs of a side effect, seek veterinary advice. You can also call FRONTLINE at 1-888-637-4251.
What special precautions are there?
If you see any signs of a reaction after giving your dog the medication, talk to your veterinarian before giving them their next dose. Do not give this medication to cats, as it can be deadly. Wash your hands thoroughly using soap and water after using the product and before using the bathroom, chewing gum, smoking, eating or drinking. If you are using this product to treat sarcoptic mange (sarcoptes mites), consult your veterinarian first. Keep this product out of reach of both animals and children. Avoid contact with eyes and clothing. While these effects are short-term, this medication can lead to serious eye injury. Never swallow it yourself. As with all pesticides, sensitivities can occur which vary from dog to dog. Dogs may experience irritation at the application site; however this is a short-term side effect. If sensitivity does occur, discontinue use immediately and contact your veterinarian.

Overview
Before applying, it's helpful to... read the product label thoroughly to familiarize yourself with the product before use. know that this product is waterproof, so it is effective even if your dog swims, bathes, or is exposed to direct sunlight. know that any use inconsistent with that described on the product label is a violation of federal law. Directions for Use: Use scissors to cut one blister on the dotted line. Peel the foil back, allowing for easy removal of the applicator. You can also gain access to the applicator by folding the blister at the line on the corner and tearing the blister open across the perforated slit. Keep the applicator upright and pointed away from anyone's face (including your pet's). Snip the tip of the applicator with scissors to open. Never allow the product to touch your dog's mouth or eyes. Use both hands to stabilize the dog and part the hair between your dog's shoulder blades. You should be able to see the skin at the application site, When treating a small dog, dispense the full applicator at this single site. For medium to large dogs, you will need to evenly divide the dose at three application sites along his or her back, and use the same method to part the hair. For extra large dogs, dispense in four sites. Never dispense on top of the hair coat. Re-apply each month to maintain protection.O
