SENVELGO oral solution is a drug used to lower high blood glucose (sugar) in otherwise healthy cats with diabetes mellitus not previously treated with insulin. What are the side effects of Senvelgo (velagliflozin oral solution) for Cats, 15 mg/ml?
The most common side effects are diarrhea or loose stool, vomiting, and weight loss. SENVELGO oral solution, like other drugs, may have side effects. Serious side effects have happened with or without warning and sometimes led to death in cats treated with SENVELGO oral solution. Serious side effects may require your cat to be hospitalized and to be given specific treatments, including insulin.
What special precautions are there?
WARNING: DIABETIC KETOACIDOSIS/EUGLYCEMIC DIABETIC KETOACIDOSIS
• Cats treated with SENVELGO® (velagliflozin oral solution) may be at an increased risk of diabetic ketoacidosis or euglycemic diabetic ketoacidosis (see Adverse Reactions). As diabetic ketoacidosis and euglycemic diabetic ketoacidosis cats treated with SENVELGO oral solution may result in death, development of these conditions should be treated promptly, including insulin administration and discontinuation of SENVELGO oral solution (see Monitoring).
• Due to the risk of developing diabetic ketoacidosis or euglycemic ketoacidosis, do not use SENVELGO oral solution in cats with diabetes mellitus who have previously been treated with insulin, who are receiving insulin, or in cats with insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus (see Contraindications).
• SENVELGO oral solution should not be initiated in cats with anorexia, dehydration, or lethargy at the time of diagnosis of diabetes mellitus or without appropriate screening tests (see Animal Safety Warnings). IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION
• Keep SENVELGO oral solution in a secure location out of reach of dogs, cats, and other animals to avoid accidental ingestion or overdose.
• Cats who are insulin dependent should not be treated with SENVELGO oral solution because it can cause serious, sometimes fatal, side effects.
• SENVELGO oral solution, like other drugs, may have side effects. The most common side effects are diarrhea or loose stool, vomiting, and weight loss. Serious side effects have happened with or without warning and sometimes led to death in cats treated with SENVELGO oral solution.
• STOP USING SENVELGO ORAL SOLUTION AND CONTACT YOUR VETERINARIAN IMMEDIATELY IF YOU NOTICE ANY OF THE FOLLOWING CHANGES OR SIDE EFFECTS IN YOUR CAT: Less interest in food or not eating, lack of energy or change in normal activity, vomiting or diarrhea, weakness, difficulty walking or standing.

How can I store Senvelgo (velagliflozin oral solution) for Cats, 15 mg/ml?
SENVELGO® (velagliflozin oral solution) can be stored at or below 77°F (25°C) with excursions permitted up to 104°F (40°C). Once the bottle is opened, use the contents within six months. Keep SENVELGO oral solution in a secure location out of reach of dogs, cats, and other animals to avoid accidental ingestion or overdose.
Overview
Consult with your veterinarian for specific dosing instructions. How to Administer: 1. Push down and turn cap to open bottle, then attach the dosing syringe to the plug-in adapter of the bottle. 2. Turn the bottle upside down. Pull the plunger back until you reach the dosage prescribed by your vet. 3. Separate the dosing syringe from the bottle, then push the plunger to empty the contents of the syringe directly into the cat’s mouth OR apply to a small amount of food. 4. If needed, clean the syringe with a clean, dry cloth. Give SENVELGO oral solution at approximately the same time each day.
