Product Description
Spectramast DC Dry Cow Formula is used to treat subclinical mastitis caused by Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus dysgalactiae, and Streptococcus uberis. For use in dairy cattle, this drug is a sterile suspension of ceftiofur hydrochloride.
Who is Spectramast DC Dry Cow Formula for?
Dairy cattle.
Why use Spectramast DC Dry Cow Formula?
Spectramast DC Dry Cow Formula acts to fight subclinical mastitis in dairy cattle in the dry-off period. This drug gives improved flexibility of milk management and addresses a wider number of infections, allowing the cow to return to milking sooner. It is a practical product with the shortest meat withdrawal duration of any dry-off solution. Ceftiofur is included at a rate of 500 milligrams per 10 mL syringe.
How does Spectramast DC Dry Cow Formula work?
This antibiotic belongs to the cephalosporin family of antibiotics, and it acts by inhibiting the enzyme responsible for peptidoglycan formation. When a broad-spectrum, cell wall production-targeting antibiotic is administered to the body, it causes lysis of the bacterial cell, which leads to elimination of the infection.

This medication is regarded as a non-irritating and clinically safe option for dairy cow udder drying purposes. Like all drugs, this medication should never be used in animals with previous hypersensitivity responses.
What special precautions are there?
Penicillins and cephalosporins can cause allergic responses. Topical ceftiofur or antibiotic exposure can cause mild to severe allergic responses. Prolonged product exposure can cause sensitization. Avoid contact with clothes, skin, mouth, and eyes. When handling, wear protective gloves. People with hypersensitivities to penicillin or cephalosporin should not be exposed. In case of eye contact, flush the eye for 15 minutes. In case of skin contact, wash with soap and water. Remove any clothes that have come into touch with the solution. Hives, a rash on the skin, and difficulty breathing are all examples of allergic responses. If an allergic reaction occurs, seek medical attention. Keep out of the reach of animals and children.
What to do if overdose?
If overdose occurs, please contact your local pet hospital or emergency pet clinic immediately.
How can I store Spectramast DC Dry Cow Formula?
Keep in a cool and dry place and be sure to protect it from heat and direct sunlight.
Overview
Make sure to keep a close eye on the animals. If proper herd management is not followed, reinfection may occur. Wash teats in warm water using an antiseptic that is acceptable for dairy animals. Then fully dry the area. When the udder is dry, milk it. After milking, use an alcohol pad to gently massage the damaged teat. Choose between 1/8" and completely inserted insertion depths. Remove the cap and insert the tip into the cannula with caution. Push the plunger top to administer the medication once it's been inserted. Rub the quarter region gently after administration. During dry-off seasons, this medicine should be used.
